7 Days in Fiji: The Classic Itinerary (2026)

fiji 7 day itinerary

Written by Lucy Cameron

The classic Fiji 7-day itinerary is one of the most reliable trip lengths in the South Pacific — enough for one solid outer-island stay plus arrival/departure buffer days. After running variations of this trip a dozen times, here is the standard plan and the variants we recommend.

Fiji 7-day itinerary map

The Standard 7-Day Plan

Day 1 — Arrival and buffer

Land Nadi, taxi 20 minutes to Denarau, check in to a chain hotel (Hilton, Sheraton, or Sofitel). Walk to Port Denarau for sundown drinks. This is purely a recovery night — don’t try to do anything ambitious.

Days 2–6 — Outer-island resort

Morning boat to a Mamanuca resort (Castaway, Tokoriki, Malolo, or Likuliku depending on budget/style). 5 nights at one resort: swim, snorkel, eat, drink, repeat. Mid-trip optional day-trip — Cloud 9, Monuriki, or a village visit.

Day 7 — Departure

Morning swim, late-morning boat back to Nadi, lunch on Denarau, evening international flight home.

Variants

Honeymoon 7-day variant

Skip the buffer nights. 6 nights at Likuliku or Six Senses, fly out same day on the morning departure. The extra two overwater nights are worth more than the convenience of Denarau bookends.

Family 7-day variant

Skip the Mamanucas. 6 nights at Outrigger Fiji or Shangri-La Yanuca on the Coral Coast (90 minutes from Nadi by taxi), 1 buffer night on Denarau before fly-out. Kids club access throughout.

Backpacker 7-day variant

1 night Nadi (Bamboo Backpackers or Smugglers Cove). 5 nights Yasawa with a 5-day Bula Pass — 2 nights Mantaray Island, 2 nights Octopus or Naqalia. 1 night Nadi before fly-out.

Total in-country cost ~USD 950 excluding flights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 7 days enough in Fiji?

Yes — 7 nights is the sweet spot. Enough for one solid outer-island resort stay plus arrival/departure buffer days. Shorter trips feel rushed; longer trips open up multi-island combinations.

What’s the best 7-day Fiji itinerary?

1 night Denarau arrival buffer, 5 nights at a Mamanuca resort (Castaway, Tokoriki or Likuliku depending on style/budget), 1 night Denarau before fly-out. Honeymooners can drop the bookends and add them to the overwater stay.

How much does a 7-day Fiji trip cost?

For two adults from US west coast: USD 4,800 mid-range, USD 10,800 honeymoon overwater. From Australia/NZ subtract about USD 1,200 for flight costs.

Can you island-hop in 7 days?

Generally no — the transfer time eats too much of a 7-night trip. Stick to one island and one resort. Save island-hopping for 10+ night trips with a Yasawa Flyer + Bula Pass combination.

Should I include the Coral Coast in a 7-day trip?

Only if you’re travelling with kids or want a more land-based experience. Otherwise the Mamanucas offer more iconic Fiji photos and short transfers from Nadi. See our Coral Coast guide for context.
